Mark Stohlman won the election for Morrisville Mayor after a long uphill battle against the many advantages of Jackie Holcombe being the incumbent. Steve Rao won a decisive victory over Pete Martin who had been on the Council for 12 years and was attempting a come back after being unseated in the last election. It was a record voter turnout, especially considering there was nothing else on the ballot (see complete election results below).
We are confident that with the consensus-building leadership of Mayor Stohlman, supported by the integrity and commitment of Councilpersons Schlink and Rao, we are entering a new age of Town Council professionalism, accountability, and transparency. Along with a renewed focus on town-specific issues (and not national ones the Council cannot affect), this new team will move our town in a much better direction. We are also excited to have a new extraordinary town manager and a highly professional Chamber of Commerce president. We believe we are at the dawn of a golden age for Morrisville.
The past three election cycles have done a lot to change the face of Morrisville municipal government and make it much more professional, accountable, transparent and fiscally responsible. We thank everyone for supporting Morrisville Action enabling us to be a positive force in that change.
