Ok, the election is over. Lets see some movement on road improvements!

At the very least, lets get some projects that are beneficial to Morrisville on CAMPO's radar. Personally, I expect my representatives to be "out there" in the news championing improvements. If we get closed out of everything, lets see some complaining about it.

What Morrisville Roads qualify for stimulus funds? From what I have read stimulus funds for towns and cities like Morrisville will only be awarded through the existing Metropolitian Planning Organization and its existing prioritization process. Even the state has difficulty qualifying road improvement projects for federal stimulus funds. That is why the federal stimulus funds that are awarded to the state is primarily being used for repaving projects, which does not increase any roadway capacity, these projects just improve the ride feel. The primary intent of the stimulus funding is to create jobs, which the repaving projects accomplished. I think that you have a hope, not a plan.

You are right Lee, it is economically unfeasible for a town the size of Morrisville to fix tens of millions of dollars of traffic problems. That's why we need leadership in place that will pursue additional funding sources for transportation improvements. As a strong community advocate, I will advance a cost sharing plan to begin to address our traffic problems, one that includes federal stimulus dollars, state funds, developer fees and local tax money.

Improvements won’t happen overnight. But with the right leadership in place, we can aggressively pursue additional funding sources. That’s one of the reasons I’m running for mayor. I would appreciate your vote on November 3rd.

Interesting that some ofht ecandidates on this slate want to cut spending and never raise taxes, but one of them wants the town to sponsor arts programs like a choir and garden club? These are the things that should be cut under fiscal conservatism and the community itself should be spearheading them if there is a desire fo it.

All of them want to "fix" the traffic in Morrisville and promise to work on that, even though it is completely economically infeasible for a town the size of Morrisville to do so.

It all really sounds like Politics as usual to me. All promises with no real way to back it up.

Some folks are saying "Jan will certainly look to lower taxes... because she says so". I guess they missed this one:

It's rather convenient to say "I plan to lower taxes" when the election is right around the corner.

People really need to open their eyes & ears to the facts. I'm sure Jan is a lovely person, but Morrsiville needs a responsive leader that will always do what's right for the people of Morrisville. Morrisville needs a leader with "moxie"; and Jackie Holcombe is just that!!

For those of you that do not know Jackie, I highly recommend you get to know her. She is very personable AND approachable.
